Why do some people use a dot in the first part of their e-mail address?

Other - Computers
Mike asked:

For example, joe.smith@madeupemail.com.

Does the use of the dot make for easier searching when someone is trying to find your contact info, or is the dot maybe used as an anti-spam technique?

Just curious. Some addresses use the dot and some don’t.

My AVG anti-virus program has 4 viruses saved in the vault. Should I delete them? Trojan Horse Flooder.AKE?

Other - Computers
Curious asked:

I have ran my anti-virus, anti-spam, ect this morning and everything seems fine. But yesterday, I noticed that the photo on my desktop changed without my permission, and I was unable to do a system restore.

AVG(my anti-virus program) stored four virus’s in the vault yesterday morning, right before I had these problems. Should I leave them there, or delete them from the vault? The “heal” option doesn’t seem to be active, and when I click it, nothing happens.

The name of the four stored viruses are: Trojan Horse Flooder.AKE, and they are under 4 different file names: winlongon.exe(two of these), A0079791.exe, and A0079792.exe
Also, when I click on the name of the virus, and select “details” it says backup copy infected. What does that mean?

How to prevent receiving my e-mail in Outlook Express doubled?

Other - Computers
♥ FairLady ♥ asked:

Hi everyone,
I think it started after I installed anti-spam software. I have the same e-mail doubled - one is normal, and another is “empty”.

It floods my mail and eventually I get “overquota” message.

Does anybody know why I get them doubled, and what to do to stop it???
Thanks guys !!!! I really honestly appreciate your help.

Virginia
