What should I do about this virus issue?

Security
Goodbye asked:

Last night, my computer at home detected and found a virus. My firewall was on, and I ran my anti-virus, and all my other anti-spam, anti-this and that :) and removed everything they all found, however…there is an icon in the system tray that keeps flashing saying that it found “harmful spyware” and when I click on it, it goes to some “Malwiped” website and the website is reading as restricted. I have never seen this icon before I had this problem. Also, when I open up Internet Explorer, the first page it goes too is some weird “Internet Security” page, almost looks like a fake Windows page, cause of the colors. I checked to see what my homepage was, and it still says it is Yahoo. And there is also a toolbar in my Internet Explorer that I have never saw before either, and I can’t get rid of it! Will doing a system restore help this problem? I have all of my files already backed up. Any help or advice is appreciated, and if you want, send me a message if you’d like! Thanks a lot!
I did do an update on my anti-virus earlier that day…and yes…this thing is called “Spylocked”, the icon in the tray! that forum link is helping..I’m still reading away though!
Update: I checked out the forum thread the first user posted…right on the money with my problem. I followed the instructions, however the fake security toolbar in my browser didn’t go away..so I did a system restore. Thanks for all your answers! Helped a lot! :)

You HAVE to do a system restore. Go back to before that happened and it will fix everything. I’d do a disc clean first, because sometimes spyware and adware and viruses are hidden in some temporary file of yours. Then I’d do the restore. Make sure you’re using a good full system security program like Norton or McAfee. What it sounds like is that you downloaded a program that had adware and or spyware in it and during the installation it asked if you wanted to install a toolbar (In fine print) . Just keep going back to further and further restore points until your systems like it was. Uninstall and reinstall Internet Explorer if you have to. (Go to Microsofts website and just download internet exporer 7. It will uninstall WHATEVER version in IE you’ve got). Good luck. My computer drove me crazy most of all of last year until I got Norton. Though I also recommend the last version of McAffee.
