I use the Firefox browser instead of IE and it seems to help quite a bit as the browser has an automatic pop-up blocker built in. (Tools –> Options –> Content)

Also, you can go to Start –> Run –> type in “msconfig” –> click OK –> click Startup tab –> delete some of the things you don’t want to pop up every time you start your computer. This has helped my computer speed up quite a bit.

pop ups are generated, mostly, from cookies or temp files put into your computer by sites you visit. delete all the contents of your cookie files and any temp caches you have, use the explore and IE browser tools. this will cure most pop ups

First off, don’t try to email anyone, next STAY OUT OF PORN. Right click on Internet Explorer icon, click on properties, Click on delete browsing history, click on delete Temporary Internet files, click yes, wait, click delete Temporary Internet files again, check the box and click yes again. If this isn’t enough go back to same place and delete your cookies. You can download MSN or Yahoo or Google as a homepage, they all have anti spyware included and limited anti virus additions. Then search internet for term …free/spyware/removal

You have scanned for spyware and you have scanned for virus but you havn’t scanned for trojans. I suggest a free online scan with Ewido:
The system warning that you are getting is an indication of a Smitfraud infection caused by the Zlob trojan. Infomation and removal instrictions are at these links:

After you get your computer nice and clean I would suggest IE-SPYAD (if you are using IE) to prevent pop-ups and malware installation.

“IE-SPYAD adds a long list of sites and domains associated with known advertisers, marketers, and crapware pushers to the Restricted sites zone of Internet Explorer. Once you merge this list of sites and domains into the Registry, the web sites for these companies will not be able to use cookies, ActiveX controls, Java applets, or scripting to compromise your privacy or your PC while you surf the Net. Nor will they be able to use your browser to push unwanted pop-ups, cookies, or auto-installing programs on your PC.”

you’re not running Firefox that’s for sure

get the following, all are free for a safe surfing experience,
install in SAFE mode with networking ( hit F-8 at boot time ), run them all in SAFE mode
with networking as you’ll need it for the updates all the programs below will need.

    ANTI VIRAL

    AVG (free)

    FIREWALL

    ZoneAlarm

    WEB BROWSER -

EMAIL use thunderbird. It has a good built in spam filter and learns when you teach it.

    SPYWARE

and if you have a wireless router follow these tips,

    1. Use WPA encryption (WPA-PSK) it’s less crackable then WEP.

    2. Make a passphrase that is upper & lower case and has some numbers thrown in there as well, again harder to crack.
some like mAkE1t5eCurE0rel53 and as long as possible.

    3. Use MAC access control so only you or authorized PC’s can connect (even if you do have encryption turned on)

    4. Turn off DHCP use static addresses.

    5. Turn off SSID (and change it) unless your card really needs it (some do)

    6. Change username/password of access unit front end

    7. Ensure you have the usual firewall enabled on your PC.

    8. Paranoia rules, turn WLAN off if your not using it :)

    one last tip
    control panel—administrator tools–services–messenger

    right clik on it
    stop the service
    then disable it
    save changes
